My dad used to go to Charlottesville, VA all the time as a little boy to visit his older brothers in college. His brothers attended UVA (University of Virginia.) My dad wanted to expose me to the whole college deal thus he decided to take me to Charlottesville so that I could visit the campus of UVA. University of Virginia has so much history that goes along with it. Thomas Jefferson, who lived at Monticello, established UVA. He had UVA built in resemblance to his house. He watched UVA being built from his house. The Rotunda building at UVA is neoclassical, as was Monticello.
On the way to Charlottesville from D.C., I noticed there were military vehicles driving next to us on the highway. In St. Louis, one would never see a ton of military vehicles driving on the highway. My dad and I later got off the highway because we like to take scenic routes, although they may be longer. We stopped at Mount Vernon, which was beautiful. Mount Vernon was the plantation house of George Washington. The estate is situated on the banks of the Potomac River. I stood in the backyard on the perfectly manicured grass as I enjoyed the ethereal sensation of staring out into the blue water as the warm wind blew and the birds sang. After visiting Mount Vernon, we got back on the road. I saw that Virginia is a pretty rural area. I saw vast landscapes of green grass. On occasion I saw horse barns, white picket fences, glamourous country estates and lots of hay stacks in empty fields of grass.
Once my dad and I reached Charlottesville, we dropped off our luggage at the hotel and walked to a little town where there were restaurants and boutiques. We ate at a restaurant called The Fitzroy. It was delicious. We spoke to our waitress there who said she was from Washington D.C. and attends UVA. She was very insightful on the whole college deal. Since my dad and I visited Georgetown and I loved it so much, she told us why she chose UVA over Georgetown. The reason was because she wanted to leave the vicinity in which she grew up. My dad and I later drove around to look at the vineyards in Virginia. One of which we came across was the Trump Vineyard. The vineyard itself was beautiful and well-manicured. It was made up of vast amount of acres. I was stunned. My dad and I checked out UVA. UVA is on a large campus with neat brick buildings. We went to grand the libraries. UVA has a classy, prim and proper feel. It is a comfortable place to be and anyone who attends UVA is very lucky. I was amazed at how beautiful it was and the area in which it was in was perfect.
